Poll: Too early for Halloween?

The Halloween season is just now really getting under way. Day by day more stores put out their Halloween merchandise and it crops up in more conversations. Many area stores however have had stuff out for weeks (even months in some cases). So my question to you is this: How early is too early? When is the appropriate time to start seeing Halloween merchandise out in stores (this is different from when people actually put up decorations at their homes - that poll is forthcoming)? Vote in the poll and share your comments below!

How early is too early to see Halloween items for sale in stores?
  July
  August
  Before September 1
  Before October 1

This is actually an issue? No wonder the USA is falling apart! Does it really matter to anyone when stores place seasonal merchandise? If it does to YOU, follow this step: GET A LIFE!

I think it shows where our society is at when Thanksgiving gets no press at all-no money involved, no importance.

By Rushing things, aren't we?

Maybe more appropriate is the question “How early is too early for Christmas”…Christmas decorations showed up at Michael’s in Beavercreek back in middle of August (or maybe earlier than that!) Let’s just enjoy each season as it comes to us rather than running around preparing for the next one!

When stores begin pushing holiday merchandise too early it gets annoying. The plus side is stores stock up too much in advance and end up having crazy clearance sales after the holiday is over. My suggestion for consumers is to deal with the mild annoyance then buy after the holiday to get your bargain!

It’s insane how retailers put stuff out so early. Now it IS nice to get orange-and-black stuff for my Beavercreek football family in August, but I think I can plan ahead for the next year. October 1 should be it, then Thanksgiving on November 1 and Christmas stuff starting the day after Thanksgiving. My family goes bonkers over Halloween, but we make most of our own decorations. Nobody has cooler stuff and it can’t be bought, not to mention the fun the family has making it together. And isn’t that what holidays are for anyway?

Yes it does matter. The people of the USA needs to be reminded that our time on earth does not always have to be spent worring about the whole world and its problems. So the holidays bring a little light our way even if just for a few months out of the year. As far as how early decorating should start, I think that the first of the month the holiday is in is early enough. By the time the holidays get here, people are tired of it!
