In springfield clark county mortgage lenders and realtors have to be creative. Most people, or at least those who can afford to, are trying to excape the cluches of springfield. Just look at the number of houses for sale that are not in foreclosure. alot of folks just want out of springfield and with the city ever expanding it borders in an effort to incompass the whole county, the only opption is to locate out of clark county. I am looking to go to Madision County.
If you read the article closely it says homes under $200,000. So, to me that says that there should be homes that will appeal to just about everyone’s price range. I know that all of the talk about foreclosures is making alot of people of nervous. But, as long as you go into it knowing what you can afford there shouldn’t be an issue.
I think Mr. Bullis is absolutely right about the amount of houses on the market and sellers being patient. As I understand it, his Prudential One agents are experts in the short-sale approach to helping sellers avoid foreclosures, and sell their houses fast. Howard helped a friend of mine who lost his job this year using the short sale method. My friend was able to find a more affordable home and avoid a foreclosure.
Maybe $200,000 homes are not for all in this county, due to income levels. But the point of the story was not about that, but how banks and realators are working together to assist people in buying homes, and not being scared of foreclosure. I just bought my first house in July 2007, wonderful team of professionals to work with from Real Estate II and my broker from the bank was wonderful too. I would do it all over again! Stressful yes, wonderful team yes, Win-Win Situation for my family.
Affordable for who? I certainly couldn’t afford 200,000! When I was helping a friend look for a house a couple of years ago, we were looking at 100,000 as the top limit.Several homes in that range would ave made nice family homes.
Considering that so many of our school kids live in homes with incomes under the poverty level, and the number of foreclosures in the area, and stories about how hard it is to get a decent-paying job, I am amazed that someone thinks 200,000 is “affordable”!
